Why choose laser treatment?

Painless procedure

While squeezing pimples is painful, laser acne treatment cleanses the skin painlessly and without discomfort.

Fast results

Visible improvement is usually seen after just 1–2 sessions, as the strong anti-inflammatory effect starts working immediately.

Good for your skin

The laser targets the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen biosynthesis and improving skin texture.

How laser acne treatment works?

As the main cause of acne is bacteria that trigger inflammation, the laser focuses on destroying these bacteria.

  1. The laser beam penetrates deep into the skin and targets the affected areas with precise pulses.
  2. The temperature of the skin tissue gradually increases.
  3. Once it reaches the critical level, the acne-causing bacteria are destroyed.

At Decus Clinic, we use the high-quality Harmony XL laser from Alma Lasers.

The procedure is painless and safe

Mechanical cleansing of acne-affected skin can be quite painful, as pimples and inflammation make the skin sensitive. Fortunately, laser acne treatment does not cause pain.

  • During the procedure, you will only feel a gentle warmth.
  • After the treatment, organic residues are removed from the pores using vacuum suction.
  • As the bacteria are destroyed, existing inflammation is cleared, and new breakouts are prevented.

Effective acne treatment with additional benefits

Laser acne treatment primarily targets inflammation and bacteria, but it also provides several other benefits for the skin.

  • Reduces the risk of post-acne pigmentation spots.
  • Stimulates the production of new collagen fibres, improving skin elasticity.
  • Removes old, dead skin cells, giving the skin a fresher, clearer look.

Why do hormonal acne and other types of acne occur?

There are many causes of acne. Hormonal acne is one of the most common types, but it is certainly not the only one. Acne can also be genetic, and sometimes it develops due to poor nutrition. Other possible causes include:

  • Increased sebum production
  • Impaired sebum flow
  • Gynaecological disorders
  • Immune system disorders
  • Endocrine disorders
  • Stomach and intestinal conditions
  • Clogged pores
  • Inflammation of the sebaceous glands
  • Stress

Fast and visible results

The first improvements can be seen after just 1–2 sessions, but an effective course of treatment usually consists of 4–6 procedures. A Decus Clinic dermatologist will determine a personalised treatment plan based on the condition of your skin. With laser treatment:

  • Inflammation subsides.
  • The skin is no longer excessively oily or shiny.
  • Comedones, papules, and pustules disappear.
  • Sebaceous gland activity is significantly reduced.
  • The skin becomes firmer and more youthful.

Prevent acne scars before they form

One of the most unpleasant consequences of acne is scarring. Scars develop when inflammation has persisted for a long time and damaged the sebaceous glands.

Starting treatment early helps to prevent scars from forming.

Fortunately, we can also help if scarring has already occurred — learn more about how laser resurfacing works.

Frequently asked questions

As acne is a medical condition rather than a simple cosmetic concern, it must be treated comprehensively. It’s best to start by consulting a dermatologist, who will assess the condition of your skin and recommend the most suitable treatment.

In addition to laser therapy, the plan may include medication, dietary advice, and guidance on proper cleansing and care routines for inflamed skin.

Acne vulgaris is a chronic condition that mainly affects younger people. It is caused by excessive sebum production and blocked sebaceous glands, which lead to inflammation.
Statistics show that 80% of people aged 12–25 and 30% of those over 25 experience acne at some point.

Although it often affects teenagers and may clear up with age, it can also persist into adulthood.

Professional and effective acne treatment in Tallinn can be found in various clinics – from dermatologists’ offices to beauty clinics offering laser therapy.

At Decus, alongside experienced beauty specialists, consultations are also provided by an experienced dermatologist. If you would like a medical opinion, book a consultation first – the doctor will advise you on the best combination of treatments for your skin.

The most common types are:

  • Non-inflammatory acne – comedones (blackheads)
  • Inflammatory acne – papules and pustules

More severe forms include nodulocystic acne, cystic acne, and hidradenitis.

It most often appears on the face – the nose, cheeks, and forehead – but acne on the chin and neck is also common, especially in men who irritate the skin while shaving.

Painful spots can also develop on the décolleté, chest, and back.

Yes. Diet plays a major role in skin health. If yeast fungi proliferate in the body, this can manifest as acne.

The most problematic foods are refined and heavily processed ones – it’s best to eat natural foods without preservatives or artificial additives.

Chocolate is often blamed for acne, but this has not been scientifically proven. However, limiting carbohydrate and dairy intake can help.

Nutrients such as vitamin A, vitamin E, zinc, selenium, and omega-3 fatty acids can help reduce acne risk. Prioritise foods rich in these nutrients.

When acne becomes inflamed and severe, the healing process may leave scars. Unfortunately, these do not disappear on their own, which is why early treatment is crucial.
Acne scar removal is possible but can be costly – it’s more effective and affordable to prevent scarring by starting laser treatment in time.
Learn more about laser resurfacing, one of the most effective methods for reducing all types of scar tissue.

Treatment depends on the depth and type of scars. After consultation, a specialist may recommend different approaches.

For example, RF Microneedling has shown excellent results in improving various types of scarring.

Yes. Age is not a limiting factor for laser therapy. Unlike procedures such as tattoo removal, laser acne treatment is safe for young teenagers.

However, a parent should accompany minors to the consultation and treatment.

No, laser therapy does not cause pain. You may feel mild warmth, but it is not uncomfortable.

After the procedure, the skin may be slightly red or swollen, but these effects usually subside within a few days.

Eat a balanced diet that suits your body, and take daily care of your skin. Proper cleansing and regular skincare are essential.

If acne worsens, consider a laser treatment course, and follow your doctor’s advice.

A full course typically includes up to six sessions. You may notice improvements after just one or two treatments, but completing the full course is important.

The duration of the results depends on factors such as your initial skin condition, diet, and skincare habits.

On average, the effects last for at least six months, though some clients choose to return for maintenance sessions more frequently.
