Birthmark and Mole Check

One of the most common reasons for visiting a dermatologist is to ensure that there are no dangerous moles or birthmarks on the skin. A birthmark and mole check, or dermatoscopy, is a simple yet thorough procedure during which the doctor carefully examines moles (naevi) across the entire body.

Laser removal of moles is only possible if the mole is small and benign. The removal of larger or potentially dangerous moles is a surgical procedure performed in a hospital setting. For such cases, the Decus dermatologist can issue a referral.

NB! Birthmarks and moles should be checked regularly. This allows potential issues to be detected early and treated in a timely manner.

Skin Conditions and Treatment

A consultation with a dermatologist allows various skin diseases to be diagnosed and effective treatment options to be identified. For some conditions, laser therapy can produce excellent results. We offer these treatments at Decus Clinic using the advanced Alma Lasers Harmony XL system.

Skin conditions for which laser therapy may be beneficial:

  • Psoriasis – a chronic skin disease that causes uncomfortable rashes and scaling. Psoriasis treatment includes a variety of methods, including laser procedures.
  • Dermatitis – inflammation of the skin caused by environmental factors (contact dermatitis), allergic reactions (allergic dermatitis), or yeast overgrowth (seborrhoeic dermatitis).
  • Acne – a skin condition that causes spots, inflammation, and visible scarring.
  • Rosacea – a chronic skin disease that causes hypersensitivity and stinging sensations.

The most important step is obtaining an accurate diagnosis. If you are concerned about any skin issue, book a consultation with a dermatologist, and receive an expert assessment.

Removal of Skin Lesions and Growths

Skin lesions and growths such as corns, keratoses, warts, condylomas, dermatofibromas, xanthelasmas, milia, papillomas and haemangiomas are extremely common. While most are harmless, many people choose to have them removed for aesthetic or practical reasons.

These skin lesions may appear on the face (including around the eyes), neck, underarms, back and elsewhere. They may appear as skin tags, patches, bumps and other visible skin changes. You do not need to know exactly what type of lesion it is — during the consultation, the dermatologist will assess your skin and explain the next steps.

Removal is typically performed using laser treatment, mechanical methods, or cryotherapy (freezing). The dermatologist will choose the most suitable method.

When Should You See a Dermatologist?

The skin is the largest organ in the human body, which is why it is important to take good care of it. It is recommended to have a professional skin examination once a year or every two years.

You should also consult a doctor if:

  • One of your moles has changed in shape or size;
  • You have developed a skin lesion that is causing discomfort;
  • A new skin lesion has appeared and you are unsure whether it is harmless or potentially dangerous;
  • New pigmented spots have appeared and you are concerned about them;
  • Your skin has been itchy, flaky and red for a prolonged period;
  • You are experiencing any other skin-related concern.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can find the consultation fee in our price list.

Please note that this fee covers the consultation only. If the doctor performs any procedures during the visit (for example, removing a skin lesion), the cost of those procedures will be added according to the price list.

Our dermatologist has extensive knowledge and many years of experience. This means he can diagnose a wide range of skin diseases and concerns. You can book a consultation for any skin-related issue.

In many cases, the doctor can provide immediate assistance and carry out the necessary procedures during the appointment. If the condition requires more advanced treatment, he can refer you to the appropriate specialist and issue a referral if necessary.

If your skin has not responded to treatment so far, a professional skin analysis may be necessary. A dermatologist can create a comprehensive treatment plan to help bring your skin condition back under control.

For milder forms of acne, laser acne treatment performed by an aesthetic specialist may be sufficient. In this case, a dermatologist consultation may not be necessary.

The removal of clogged pores and blackheads can often be carried out by an aesthetic specialist, so a dermatologist consultation is not always necessary. In many cases, a professional facial treatment is sufficient.

However, if you would like to identify the underlying cause of the clogged pores or require more comprehensive treatment, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist.

Yes. The symptoms of nail fungus can resemble several other nail conditions, which is why an accurate diagnosis is important.

A dermatologist will assess the condition of your nails and, if necessary, prescribe appropriate treatment for nail fungus. The earlier treatment begins, the better the outcome is usually.

These symptoms may indicate eczema, but they can also be caused by other skin conditions. A dermatologist will help determine the cause of the symptoms and recommend appropriate eczema treatment. Properly selected treatment can help relieve itching, reduce inflammation, and improve the condition of the skin.

Only a doctor can determine whether a mole is dangerous or not. It is easy to draw incorrect conclusions when assessing moles, yourself, as they come in many different shapes and sizes. Sometimes a very unusual-looking mole is completely harmless, while a tiny mole that appears entirely normal may actually be developing into melanoma.

Instead of worrying unnecessarily, have your moles checked regularly and leave the assessment to professionals. This is the best way to take care of your health.
