Dermatoscopy and general examination

It is important to have your skin checked regularly, even if you have no visible concerns.

At Decus Clinic, our dermatologist performs a mole check (dermatoscopy) to determine whether there are any moles that require attention.

If you visit us with a specific concern, the doctor will assess your condition and, if necessary, carry out the required procedures during the same appointment.

Removal of skin lesions

Large or potentially dangerous moles must be removed surgically in a hospital. Smaller moles can be safely removed at our clinic using a laser.

Many skin formations are completely harmless. People often wish to remove them for aesthetic reasons – smooth skin simply looks and feels better. We also perform the removal of warts and papillomas (skin tags).

You don’t need to know whether a growth on your skin is harmless or not – come for a consultation, and we’ll find out together.

Modern procedures

To remove various skin lesions, we use the Harmony XL laser from Alma Lasers (Israel). This highly effective technology ensures the procedures are quick and minimally uncomfortable.

If laser removal is not suitable, we use liquid nitrogen, specific medical agents, or manual techniques.
Local anaesthesia can be used on most areas of the body to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.

Types of skin lesions

Here you can find the types of skin lesions we can help remove.

Keratomas are usually about 1 cm in diameter and range in colour from yellow to dark brown. As they develop, dry crusts and scales form on the surface, which may cause slight bleeding when they peel off. Elderly people often have seborrhoeic keratomas.

Keratomas are not dangerous to health but can affect the appearance of the skin. They can be removed by freezing.

Birthmarks are benign skin formations, either congenital or developed over time, consisting of melanin-filled cells. They can vary in size, shape, and texture.

However, benign moles can develop into malignant tumours (melanomas). That’s why it’s important to have them checked by a specialist who can detect any changes early and remove potentially dangerous ones. Moles located in areas prone to friction or injury should also be removed.

Angiomas (or red moles) are benign vascular tumours made up of blood and lymph vessels. They usually appear on the face, body, limbs, or internal organs, and sometimes may bleed.

Although angiomas are harmless, many people choose to remove them for cosmetic reasons.

Compared to other methods, laser treatment is the most effective and skin-friendly option. The laser removes all damaged tissue layers until healthy skin is revealed

Papillomas (skin tags) are viral growths that commonly occur on the eyelids, neck, armpits, and groin area.

While they do not usually cause discomfort, people often wish to remove them for aesthetic reasons.

Papillomas tend to spread gradually across the body. Their appearance often signals a weakened immune system, which may increase the risk of other health issues, so it’s advisable to remove them.

After removal, it’s important to protect the treated area from the sun for one month to prevent pigmentation.

Warts are benign growths caused by different strains of the papilloma virus. They are common among children and young adults, especially those with dry skin.

Warts may appear on the face, body, palms, or soles of the feet. Although they can sometimes be treated at home, there is always a risk of misdiagnosis – another condition might require a different treatment approach. Therefore, it’s best to consult a dermatologist.

Because warts are contagious, removal is recommended. Freezing with liquid nitrogen is an effective method, though other techniques may be used when needed.

Xanthelasma is a small benign lesion that often appears in women and is usually found in the inner corner of the eye.

The exact cause is unknown, but risk factors may include diabetes, liver cirrhosis, and obesity.

Xanthelasma should be removed, as it can grow larger and increase in number over time.

Laser removal is the simplest and safest method, as it eliminates the lesion without damaging healthy tissue. The procedure is completely safe and leaves no scars.

Frequently asked questions

Your dermatologist will advise you based on your individual needs. If you have no issues, a check-up once every two years is sufficient. If a mole requires monitoring, you’ll be invited for a follow-up in about six months.

Both laser and surgical mole removal are performed under anaesthesia.

Before the procedure, a topical anaesthetic is applied, so you won’t feel pain. Afterwards, you’ll receive clear aftercare instructions from your doctor.

Without anaesthesia, it can be uncomfortable. However, local anaesthesia can be applied so that you feel nothing. In some areas – such as around the eyes – anaesthesia may not be suitable. The laser works quickly and effectively, making the minor discomfort well worth it.

When performed by an experienced professional, the removal of skin tags or other growths is completely safe.

At Decus, such procedures are carried out only by skilled specialists. Dr Piruzyan has decades of experience, and every case is handled with precision and care. Laser treatment is a safe method.

Without anaesthesia, removal can be painful, but a numbing treatment can be applied beforehand.

Since anaesthesia cannot always be used near the eyes, removing a papilloma in such a sensitive area may cause some discomfort. However, the laser works very fast, so the discomfort passes almost instantly.

The price depends on the number of papillomas. You can find the price for removing one papilloma in the price list. Please note that the dermatologist’s consultation fee will be added to the removal cost.

If there is more than one papilloma, the total price is calculated accordingly.

If there are more than 20 papillomas, the dermatologist will determine a reasonable total price.

No special preparation is needed. If you wish to discuss concerns about the face, simply come without make-up.

Only moles can be truly dangerous, as they may develop into skin cancer.

Papillomas are not harmful, but since they can multiply, removal is advisable.

Xanthelasmas can enlarge over time, so these should also be removed.

Warts are best removed due to the risk of infection.

Other skin growths are usually removed for aesthetic reasons.
